The Abyss

Navigate the Version 1.22 layout, defeat Dark Link, and gain the illusion/Lens progression.

Route briefing

Prerequisite: Complete the Factory on the recommended route.
Objective: Navigate the Version 1.22 layout, defeat Dark Link, and gain the illusion/Lens progression.
Progression acquisitions: Lens of Truth equivalent / illusion ability; a hidden Rupee and secret Heart Container are optional.
Major encounter: Dark Link.
Reward: Illusion access and completion of this Abyss visit.
Optional / missable: Find the hidden Rupee and the two illusion walls leading to the blue Traveler's Bonfire and hamburger.

Use the Version 1.22 layout and key requirements rather than older route counts.
Continue through the Abyss until you reach and defeat Dark Link.
Follow the illusion mechanics until you gain access to the Lens of Truth equivalent.

The Abyss is one of the game's more confusing dungeons.

Version differences are particularly important here.

Older versions contained:

Version 1.22 added Maps and Compasses to the major dungeons.

If an older guide does not match your game, this is probably why.

There is a hidden Rupee location near the beginning of the Abyss.

It is optional but associated with a completion achievement.

Continue through the Abyss until you reach:

Defeat him to progress.

The Abyss also introduces or expands the game's illusion mechanics and eventually gives you access to the equivalent of the:

Lens of Truth

There is a strange hidden easter egg inside the Abyss.

Locate the room containing a chest with a:

Heart Container

Go to the opposite corner.

Look for a face on the wall.

That wall is an illusion.

Walk through it.

You'll reach a pit.

Use the Hover Boots to cross toward what appears to be a normal wall.

That wall is also an illusion.

Behind it you will find:

Yes, a hamburger.
