Heart Containers — 4 total

Link begins with four life blocks. These four permanent pickups raise the maximum to eight; none is required to open the Great Palace, but the full set is part of this route.

3	North of Ocean Palace	With the Boots, walk east from Mido onto the sea. Probe north near the palace approach and follow the hidden water spur east.	No
4	Dangerous Hyrule shore	Beyond the River Devil, follow the southeastern shoreline east of Hidden Kasuto into the forced action scene.	No

Magic Containers — 4 total

Link also begins with four magic blocks. The extra four are progression requirements because Eastern Hyrule's spells require total capacities of five, six, seven, and eight.

3	Maze Island	Follow the island's southwestern paths until Link falls into the secret pit.	Allows Spell later.
4	Hidden Kasuto	Speak to the old woman after collecting the first three; she refuses entry if any is missing.	Allows Thunder and maximizes magic.
